Here we have a list of FAQ's. If there are any other questions you would like answered please contact us.
What age groups do the Camps provide for?We have run camps for all ages and typically we split the ages into P1-P3 (Early bird), P4-P7 (Junior) and - S1-S6 (Senior).
What times do the Camps start and finish? Most of our camps run from 10.00am - 4.00pm on each day. However, some may be different so please look up the camp details on the website.
Can I drop my children off early in the morning as I have to get to work?Yes, participants may be dropped off early but please let us know before so we can ensure that a coach is at the camp location to meet you.
Do I have to go for the full number of days at the camp? No, however we encourage full attendance as the camp aims to develop skills and techniques over the week. In addition we plan games and competitions throughout the week. We appreciate that some people will not be able to attend all the days so if you can't make all the days of the camp please contact us as we will be able to offer a discount from the full price.
Do I need to have any previous hockey experience? No, we cater for all ages and abilities. Groups will be established in the first morning to ensure all children of similar abilities will be grouped together and therefore get the most out of the sessions.
How do I book a place? Please send in the application form to us along with your payment. The forms are available from the camps page on the website.
What do we need to bring?Every child needs to bring their own packed lunch, a hockey stick, mouth guard, shinguard's, warm outdoor clothing as well as indoor and outdoor footwear.
Clothing/bad weather? We look to continue training outdoors in all conditions so please ensure you bring appropriate clothing for the conditions each day. If the weather is really bad we will use indoor facilities as available.
Are there going to be any more camps in different locations? We are expanding our camps to other locations this year so if you think we should run a camp at another time in the year or in your area if there isn't one then let us know.
Is the amount refundable if I cant make it?Yes - all amounts are refundable if you are unable to attend the camp.
Who will be coaching at the camps? We have qualified coaches who play international hockey for their countries working at our camps leading the coaching at our camps. We look to provide enough coaches at each camp so that the ratio is 8 children per coach. This ensures that every child gets individual coaching throughout the week and also helps to control the children effectively.
Is Skoolsports qualified to look after children safely? All our sessions are designed to be as safe as possible and all steps are taken to ensure the chances of injuries are kept to a minimum. In the event of injuries we have coaches who are first aid qualified. We also work closely with the sports centres we use to ensure the safety and well-being of the children is a top priority. In addition all coaches are registered with Disclosure Scotland and many are teachers at local schools. Skoolsports run Child Protection courses for its staff on a yearly basis.
